Ask for acceleration for termination without cause and in a change in control. Ask for ability to cashless exercise. Ask to be refreshed at future dilutive financing events. You probably won't get these all but it can't hurt to try!

Know your cliff period (generally 1 year) and then each maturity cycle.
A good company would have monthly or quarterly maturity, does not bind you for whole year.
4 years is total maturity in most of the companies, ask what percentage year wise,
