Are there any banks that show debit transactions immediately (or close to immediately)? I’m switching to cash-only (really debit only) since I can’t be trusted to not accumulate cc debt. The problem I’m having is my current bank doesn’t actually show transactions til 2-3 days later, making it hard to accurately track my account balance in real time.

I have used an envelope system. When I had to use debit I would move cash out of an envelope and place in a different one for the next week which would trigger me to reduce my next cash withdrawal.

like

Probably the best thing for you is to track it by hand / paper. That way you spend it and you have the physical act of writing it down and knowing the balance immediately.

Yeah or adopt some type of cash envelope system where you withdraw some amount weekly on Sunday for example and literally pay cash all week/track manually.

I believe Chase debit does! I am in the exact same boat, OP

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

When do you know you've toured enough houses and should pick one from the list you've got? I've seen probably 15-20 homes, and put in one offer. How many homes should you tour minimum, and how many offers did you put in before you closed? I don't want to be too hasty and choose something just because, but I also think continuing to see homes isn't really making my decision any easier. Thanks!

I stopped contributing to my 401K for the last three months in order to pay off credit card debt. I am 28 and have about 68K in my 401K. Was this a smart decision? I want to get out of debt as quickly as possible and I have no student loans or car debt.

I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage.

I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest.

Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?

Car was $35k, $7k down, finance $28k. Gap insurance is through lender, not auto insurer.
