Do you bring your own office chair to work? Or do you know if somebody that does? The chairs in the office are really uncomfortable so I want to bring my own and wanted to know if it’s allowed.

How the heck r us supposed to bring a chair to work!? Like really? Do you fold it up and keep it in your backpack!?

likefunny

Have you tried out chairs at other people’s desks? Like is it the model of chair or just your specific chair? Try googling the chair model to learn how to adjust it.

like

Okey dokey, well go ask your one team person or resource manager if that’ll fly.

Why wouldn’t it be allowed? I’d first ask your office administrator for a more comfortable chair. If they won’t buy you a new one, bring your own.

like

It may not be allowed because they want to keep a consistent look in the office.

I am interested in this as well. The chairs at our office are not that comfy. I would buy one myself if allowed.

I bought a chair pad made of memory foam on Amazon because our chairs are uncomfortable also. It has been a lifesaver.

What brand and how much was it SM1?

Thx

I don't see how you can have your own chair when we don't even have consistent assigned seats...

Any advice on how to tastefully tell your manager that you no longer want to be a charge nurse anymore? For us being in charge is having full assignment 3p-7p & being responsible for assigning pts , communicating w/ supervisor about various issues, making the assignment for next shift, and a mini report about each pt for the next charge. On the weekends, same responsibilities but 7a-7p. We don't get any additional pay for being in charge and I'm sick of the added responsibility and stress of it.

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’m torn because the opportunity is great but the stress was awful. Continued in comments…

I started working as a consultant with EY 8 months ago. Even though I'm content and learning a lot there, I think there are places where I might easily earn more money. I received a job offer last week from Alvarez & Marsal to work as a consultant at the Transaction Advisory Department (financial due diligence team), where I will be paid more fairly (salary & bonus). Should I accept it? Or would leaving EY that early not be wise?
