"Lead" because it sounds like you lead a team
Consultant or assistant manager
Associate Manager or Senior Consultant
Def lead. Specialist always sounds fake to me or like they created a title because you didn’t quite fit into an established box. Probably wrong but that’s what comes to mind.
I think lead sounds higher, but know of companies where specialist is higher. I've typically seen supervisor as second in command and the diff between lead or specialist and a supervisor might be that supervisor manages people and the others do not.
Thank you all! I so appreciate the insights 🙏 We’re a startup and our current hierarchy is as follows: Coordinator, Lead, Manager, Senior Manager, Director, C-Suite.
What do you all think of proposing a Senior Lead level? In between Lead and Manager.
The difficulty is when Coordinators get promoted to Lead. There’s no differentiation in hierarchy between those that are at a more senior level.
It can vary a lot - at my company leads can be anything from below manager to senior director

Specialist deals with stuff. Lead deals with people. They can easily be the same pay range. They just have different skill sets.
I haven't had success with using the 'Senior' categorization.
It creates wage compression, especially when you need to hire into those positions if you're dealing with salary ranges. Seems like a lot of job titles... especially if you're a small startup.
