Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? Yes! It’s been their goal since 2016. Unless, senators in swing districts who won by small margins think twice about voting yes for fear of not getting reelected, but most are part of the cult so..I predict they’ll give it a good fight to dismantle it.
Doubtul. Since its implementation in 2014, the ACA has provided health insurance to over 49 million Americans, with enrollment reaching a peak of 20.8 million in 2024. [ask google]
This expansion includes individuals who may not have access to employer-sponsored insurance or COBRA, such as those who are self-employed or between jobs. IT's really not for older adults. BTW. or Low income. I know plenty of people who are on ACA because they are self employed or have lost cobra or their work doesn't offer healthcare.
A cornerstone of the ACA is its prohibition against insurers denying coverage or charging higher premiums based on pre-existing conditions. This protection has been crucial for millions of Americans with health issues like cancer or chronic illnesses, ensuring they have access to necessary medical care without facing prohibitive costs. This has forced coverage and with cancer growing exponentially imagine how many people could die w/o access to treatment.
The ACA has reduced the number of uninsured individuals, hospitals and healthcare organizations have experienced fewer uncompensated care cases. This reduction in uncompensated care helps stabilize these institutions' financial health and reduces the burden on government programs that often cover such losses. Without it, the healthcare orgs go further into red.
**** Any significant reduction or elimination of ACA provisions could lead to increased uncompensated care, impacting both healthcare providers and government budgets. And with RFK and Elon in charge who would want govt to cover more costs??
We already pay for the uninsured. Government puts that on the backs of the companies that pay wadges. Healthcare is a differant animal altogather.
The uninsured knows they can go to any Emergancy room and get free care.
Expect it and more. The incoming administration’s goal is to dismantle as many social safety nets as possible. They want to make budget cuts here to justify tax cuts to the Uber rich, ie Elon Musk, etc.
I think you need to review 9th grade civics class.
The ACA is trash
You will pay for those uninsured one way or another, higher health care costs in general, higher premiums of your own. or through a plan that gives them coverage to stay out of the emergency room....you choose RN 2
I think they'll *try*. But remember that they'll need 60 votes in the Senate, not a simple majority. & I don't think they'll get enough Dems to join them to reach that mark.
Oh, that is so wonderful to know!
I’ve been in healthcare for 30+ years. The ACA might need some tweaking but it’s here to stay.
I would be shocked if they didn't try. They've been demonizing the ACA since its inception, and now they appear to have the power to finally do away with it.
Most likely considering this group believes good healthcare is a privilege & not a human right.

Not sure if they actually’ believe’ in healthcare at all, when they don’t even believe in science, research and medicine?
Updated/changed? Yes. Repealed? No.
Most definitely! Thats long been on their to do list, and they have much more than “a concept “and if our elderly and underprivileged/underserved communities are lucky, some may be able to afford it.
The plan does away with health benefits for low income and seniors. Trump's plan from day one.
Yes. Pre existing will come back in play and hundreds of thousands will be dropped from coverage
Uhc is still bragging about record profits while rising rates
I agree with "My Yahoo 1" 110%! Ever since the ACA has been passed, the opposition has been trying to repeal it. Interestingly enough, all of the people trying to get rid of it seem to have forgotten that the author of the bill was a Constitution Law professor. Anyway, its repeal has been their rally cry since its passage. So YES, THEY WILL TRY.
Didn't they try to repeal it the last time Trump was president, but John Mccain refused to sign?
I'm kind of afraid that the "concept of a plan" process is going to be repealing the ACA, and replacing it with nothing at all, and just relying on hospitals, providers, or insurers to deal with the situation that develops. Surely someone in that group will be able to be scapegoated for not continuing healthcare for most people - and it's unlikely to be the people with the deepest pockets (insurers and hospital owners).
Over the last 10-ish years, we've seen a continuous attempt to repeal the ACA, with literally no plan for what to do afterwards. The closest I've ever heard to a plan is "it'll go back to how it was," meaning no coverage for pre-existing conditions, difficulty in getting coverage without an employer-backed plan, reinstating lifetime maximums for healthcare coverage, etc.
If there was anything more concrete than "repeal Obamacare" we would have heard of it by now. What's the benefit to keeping it secret?

They have no plan for this. Trump just doesn’t like the fact that a very intelligent president who happened to be black, was the only one to see it over the finish line. Didn’t every president since Clinton talk about the need for this type of legislation? Sixteen years later- it finally happened. And, wasn’t John Mc Cain’s down vote the deciding vote in the senate (when Trump was in office)?
I think they will definitely try
Chief
I wouldn’t put it past anyone in that cabinet to dismantle it through Executive Order.
No, it is difficult to repeal acts such as this. The only way might be if there is a great alternative.
Chief
Not really. It takes a vote in the senate and most are happy to bend to his will bc they repeatedly stated so. That’s what Trump wants! We already know he’ll lie, cheat, and steal to get what he wants. If you don’t believe this, you haven’t been paying attention. He doesn’t give a crap about you unless you were involved in Jan 6- when he promised a pardon to the worst of the worst. Can’t make this up!

Millions may not have health coverage if subsidies return to pre-Biden level

"Patients, medical providers and insurance companies fear a shake-up in the Affordable Care Act marketplace that could cause millions of people to drop their health coverage, after Republicans’ election wins made it more likely that ACA insurance plans will get more expensive.
Congress in 2021 increased federal subsidies for ACA plans, but that expansion expires at the end of 2025, and some conservative lawmakers have made clear that they oppose an extension."
