I’ve already reached my limit of free articles 😕
But I will say that having kids most definitely does not help grow your career.
Hinder, you simply have less time to dedicate to work
Having kids won’t directly help your career, but not having them may end up hindering you.
In the long run, you need to be more balanced in life, and having a family, kids, and all the relationships, activities and all that comes with it. Having this may actually make you a better professional to be around.
I can think of a few colleagues over the years that had dedicated their careers to their jobs foregoing family, some even spouses, just “never had time…”. Some of these people were the most miserable colleagues and the brought it to the office every day
Depends on your boss
Like the headline of the article hints… hinders women; helps men.
A woman has to leave work because her kid got sick at daycare? She’s not dedicated to her job. A man does the same thing? He must be empathetic and have great people skills. Also, he’s probably very dedicated to his job because he has a family to provide for. /s
