Which B4 strategy group is best?
So I just recently passed my CPA exams and I’m now looking for new opportunities. I’m hoping to work at a big 4 firm in tax and possibly connect with anyone working there right now. Please reach out to me, I would look forward to connecting and learning more about potential opportunities. Thanks!EY PwC Deloitte KPMG

Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

If your question about talent is really “is there overlap between the type of people who work at mbb and big 4?” - of course! Most people I know who interviewed for MBB also interviewed for the boutiques/ big 4, and the interview process is not perfect. There are definitely many high performers at big 4 that could be at MBB. (And likely some people at MBB who should not be there.) However, I have never seen anyone pick big 4 over MBB and I know big 4 recruits at many lower ranked schools at which we don’t.
OP, to answer your question above, posting my $0.02 based on my time in industry as client.
At least in Pharma (my vertical), clients tend to group Deloitte with MBB for strategy (obv MBB in higher regard than D). Don’t really take the rest of B4 seriously for strategy work in life science.
D is seen has doing good quality life science strat work at much better prices. MBB therefore end up pricing themselves out of a lot of brand/franchise level strat work. Though MBB (Mck in particular) dominate C-suite corporate/enterprise wide strat work.
How do you not compete for talent? Arent the same schools targeted by all firms? I am not saying talent is choosing big4 over MBB but they are targeting the same people
MBB/B4 recruit from same schools - talent obviously prefers MBB.
An increasing amount of competition between the two as B4 starts pushing more into strategy and MBB build implementation capabilities.
that’s so ridiculous it’s hilarious. Sure they weren’t a few drinks in being goofy?
I agree MBB thinks they are way better than other firms, so maybe we are arrogant, but I have never seen class discrimination. In fact, Bain did a study a few years ago and found that the biggest predictor of success at Bain was receiving financial aid in college (i.e., those who had financial aid got much better ratings).
B1, PL1, and M1, can you elaborate on the talent / recruiting component? (I know many people who have interviewed and even worked at both big 4 and MBB)
Why do so many of the Deloitte posts seems so basic bro?
Why hasn’t anyone mentioned Accenture?
Lol on talent — “you never win anyone so it’s not really a competition"
I know Accenture Strategy has poached a decent amount of people from MBB - the MD I worked with on my last project came from McKinsey a few years back as one specific example.
To say we don't compete at all for talent would be factually incorrect
I steal work from Deloitte on occasion and vice versa but usually it’s McK or Bain against us
Very insightful, folks, thanks! I'd like to hear more about your thoughts on MBB vs Big4 competing for work, seen from clients' lens, etc. Does that trigger any add'l thoughts?
Mck1 they said the comment about breeding to me. They followed it up with something along the lines of, “You know our families go way back! I believe that our great grandfathers were classmates at Princeton.”
I then proceeded to 🤮
Not infrequently. I agree KPMG1 it’s execution work mostly
Yeah I can see that. MBB definitely has an edge on the overall talent pool. Even big 4 partners say look I have never seen anyone give up an MBB offer for a Big 4 offer. Having said that I dont think MBB can go after execution work without really diluting their brand
For talent, no. For clients, sometimes.
Nope...
No. KPMG EY PWC Deloitte
Final four
We talkin about talent or work? And on work, what kinda work we talking about: Strategy/early phase work or implementation phase work?
I def never got that vibe from BCG and Mck...
