I feel the same way. I tried to start a women's group at my company and they were "supportive" of it until we started discussing pay, childcare, etc. Then it became a problem.

It’s unfortunate this happened and I’m really sorry. You deserve more support than this, and it’s unfortunate that they only wanted the visual of a women’s group, and not the potential high impact outcomes of a women’s group.

I’ve totally felt this before with different programs that I’ve put on. Sometimes it feels like they are just giving us busy work to do and they don’t actually care about outcomes.

I am being tapped to translate documents at work. I’ve done spot translation audits, and 1 larger Quality assurance document earlier this year, but was recently contacted about a potential large-scale translation initiative for next year.

Has anyone been compensated for these sorts of projects that would be “out of scope” for their role? How do you go about asking for compensation? Have any of you spun out and created translation service side-gigs?

Latinx - help! We used this term in our diversity spotlight discussing Hispanic Heritage Month. One individual said that in English a group of Latinos would just be Latins to be gender neutral. I understand the word is controversial but is “Latins” grammatically correct? I assume we should just say Latin Americans, but trying to understand if Latins is also accurate.
