Does your office or school do any type of charity drive during the holidays? Our office doesn't but I'd love to set something up with a good charity or non profit. Anyone who has experience running or participating in one of these or suggestions for good charities, I really appreciate it! Other ideas are welcome too, from therapists & social workers.

We always have a food drive where we partner with the local women's shelter to five non-perishable foods away to low-income families. For Christmas, we do a toy/coat drive.

Have you all thought about volunteering at a homeless shelter? You will have to schedule it ahead of time but it's a great experience.

Our school started a new drive this year. We're collecting suitcases for the students our school serves who are experiencing homelessness. We are a charter school with some in-person students and others virtual, so we have quite a few homeless students throughout the year. We are collecting suitcases, clothing, toiletries, and toys for these students. So far, we've had a pretty good turnout & I think we're going to be able to help a lot of families!

My office focuses on local things, like donations to veterans and the homeless. We've donated clothing and food to women's shelters before too. Going local directly supports your community, so I really recommend going this route, too!

We do! We have a giving tree and you can pull a tag off the tre and sponsor a child with Christmas presents! Its one of m y favorite things that we do all year.

We do Operation Christmas Child, We back shoebox with gifts and then we send them off. It is a big hit in our office.

Following on this, OP! Would very much love to have this initiative at our workplace. Just getting some ideas here that I could suggest to my coworkers.

Yes and we do a matching scheme as well. We're doing a coat collection initiative for the winter months

At my school, we do project snowflake. Post snowflakes with gift requests from families in need anonymously and staff buys the gifts and brings to me to deliver to families.

We do. We give out used stuff to the nearest shelter. I am very happy we do this, gives me a sense of fulfillment other than the fulfillment I receive when I do a good job.

Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage. It’s this terrible feeling of like anguish/unease in my gut, but I don’t have anything I’m worried about- it’s like my body wants to find something to worry about.

Most importantly, struggling to tolerate how directors speak to me, whereas previously I wouldn’t take it personally and get on with it. Actively looking for a different position as I’ve come to discover this company exploits EME employees, but want to attempt to end on a “high note”.

Wondering when if anyone else felt similar and decided to pull back and do something more relaxing. What was the catalyst, what are you doing, and are you enjoying it?

I'd considered taking up a 9-5 somewhere but not sure if thatd wear off fast.

Help!! My bestfriend is doing two months abroad and was trying to fly into turkey when they told her she couldn't because her passport expired within three months.

She went to the US Embassay in Athens knowing she had a month left of traveling, and gave her an emergency passport and punched holes in her exsisting one. Now no country will let her in with her emergency passport.

Can her mom get her a passport in the US and ship it to her? Is there anyway around this?

Thank you!!

Mine is my family still believes that only "sick" or unhappy people need to see a therapist, so they don't understand why I go to one since I have a job and a family. It's oldschool thinking and pretty annoying tbh.
