Holding companies truly do not care about employees. Only reason to try hard to make good work there is for our own portfolios. So we can move to the good independents, or better yet IMO, in-house.
So sorry to hear about this. I was also laid off a while ago (no longer at FCB) and it's rough out there in job market. Believe in yourself. I personally don't have family around me to help but hope you have a support system. I've heard leaning into those around (if there) is helpful. Definitely worth looking into other jobs with transferable skills. I've expanded my search and am hopeful it works out. Just know you're not alone and plenty of talented people are out of work right now. It doesn't help, but wanted to say it. Good luck.
So sorry to hear this. Know that’s it’s not you, your talent or work ethic. I hope you find something new soon. Best of luck.
There’s no better time to leave this industry than after a layoff. I wish I had in 2008 when I first got laid off and chosen a different line of work or gone back to school. Now I’m just too old it feels like to reinvent myself.
@Duder 1, I agree but in 2008 I was 26 and only 3 years out of college. I strongly considered going back and entering the medical field. Now I’m in my 40s it’s just monumentally more difficult with a wife and family.
Curious about how you might be eligible for SNAP and Medicaid due to a layoff?
Been there and hope your bounce back is swift.

Freelance is also a Catch-22 because it eliminates your unemployment income almost immediately. Even though it’s not gonna be long-standing income, you can rely on.
When does everyone gonna understand that while you’re at agency might know your name and care about you, the holding company doesn’t give a thought to any of us. The only future for advertising is if advertising agencies by themselves back from the holding companies. Since that’s never happening, go to an independent agency.

That sounds terrible. I'm so sorry. Good luck.
I’m so sorry 🤍 sending you good energy and hopefully you’ll get a better AD job elsewhere
I hope things get better for you real soon, don't give up, okay
