Do you get the feeling that there is a higher image promotion of women/minority people in Tech?I have seen way to many pictures from major tech companies that promote far more women/minorities than white males in their marketing materials.Wouldn't be better if we hired the best people no matter what the race/gender is?I know some companies are not publishing any gender/race stats but you cant't really demand a 50/50 ratio.Also there is no coincidence that most execs is some companies are British. So this goes both ways.

Do you feel like Latinos are being left out of the discussion or overlooked as more companies commit to anti-racism and inclusion efforts?

Any advice from fellow women in this industry? How did you overcome gender biases?

Lots of right wing hysteria about liberals trying to engineer equality of outcome to correct sexual/racial inequities (in higher ed, for example). I think we all want socioeconomic, gender and racial barriers to opportunities to be addressed, but no significant number of people really believe in equality of outcome right? This is just a straw man argument.

Would it be wild if I added my preferred gender pronouns to my signature? (He/his)

We are exploring having a third party come in and assess our I&D efforts across our company. We have many locations across North America. Is anyone aware of an entity who does this? We have found questionnaires through target organizations and have done anonymous employee surveys but are hoping to find someone who can do an assessment for gender, minorities, disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+, etc. and provide feedback on the actual employee experience and where we may have blind spots.

What do you think is the best diversity initiative in London?

Do you think diversity training actually works? I can't tell if it's just a way to tick a liability box or if it's actually effective.

Hey Gente, Im applying for jobs and I wanted to get others opinion on the race part of the application process. As an indigenous LatinX I worry that if I put indigenous it won’t tick the “diversity” box for the algorithm or recruiters. I work with (not in) the I&D dept at my company and our target recruiting groups don’t include or mention indigenous. Any recruiters here that have insight?

My company is in need of a update online, could use your opinions! We need to better showcase our culture (caring, supportive, fun, intelligent IT industry leaders) as well as diversity. We are predominantly white still but making strides to improve here. What’s the best way to approach? I don’t want to seem disingenuous or that we are singling out our diverse employees (asking for photos). We have a remote and on-site workforce about 350+ EEs. I am frustrated as a Gay Woman who has given her all for 30+ years grinding to be the best. I have been in closet, out of closet, in-between and am tired of it. I want to be VALUED as a human being. I have gone from Rock Star to problem when people "found out". I have trained and promoted hundreds of people and been passed over for promotions because of not being a man. I have trained men with less experience, worse results only for them to move forward. If Diversity is important...prove it!

How would you handle not getting a lunch break when you are a salaried employee treating patients for 40 hours a week? I don’t get documentation time either, but all notes are to be completed the same day. Some of us have reached out to HR and we’re told to discuss it with the regional director, but the regional director says we’d have to come in early or leave late to block out a lunch break.
