Haven’t bought one, but I have worked full time as a bicycle mechanic in the past, and I think e bikes are great! I wish I had a fitness subsidy and could buy one. I recommend getting a good one (reputable brand) that is pedal assist, which just means there is no throttle and you have to pedal for the motor to work. I ride a lot, and I would love an e-bike.
I've bought multiple ebikes for fun. Mostly the small folding ebikes because I can throw them in the back of mini Cooper, drive to a charging station and leave the car charging while I ride off to get coffee or go home. They are fun to ride and definitely not foe fitness purposes. If you just want to ride around and soak in the sun, they are a good choice.
Would love to know more. Been eyeing one for a long time and have no idea which brands are worth a look into.
In my opinion, if it’s for recreational/fitness use why not just get a normal bike?
