I haven't submitted it but I've started documented instances where I was treated differently.
If you need accommodations, request them ASAP
Ideally, before problems arise, but new problems (and supporting) can crop up anytime, so we cannot always be perfectly proactive.
Regarding accommodations: Taylor them to what YOU need to be able to do your work.
Focus on accommodations (changes that do not alter the essential functions of the job).
For example, providing alternate ways to do the job (flexible hours, digital submission, collaboration using distance technology might be reasonable accommodations in many jobs.
However, work-from-home might not be a reasonable accommodation for a ER intake nurse. The job really requires on-for personnel (but there could be circumstances where WFH might be appropriate for a supervisory ER nurse, especially for a short-term need where the individual could be training others.
Your employer may require medical proof of your disability and your need for the accommodations you request.
They may NOT require your full medical record, etc.
After your formal request, document, document, document!
Insurances where you need an accommodation that was not available.
The adverse impacts to you of your employer's family to progress requested accommodations.
Keys to success:
ASK for accommodations
Provide medical support if requested
DOCUMENT issue where accommodations were needed and not provided
In addition to your formal request for reasonable accommodations, you will need medical
I was in the process of that, but found another job before it was done. Paperwork is good to protect you. Only a matter of time before something happens, in my opinion, if they are already treating you differently.
