Got early promo, but I've reached the point where I'm no longer growing (learning) much on my current team. I've become very interested in PE and want to give that a shot. I lack the resume experience.

I’m a new patent prosecution associate and unfortunately only just now realized that maybe prosecuting patents isn’t something I want to do long term. I loved copyright (and trademark) in law school, but I have loans to pay off. Should I stick it out in my current role to pay them off before I jump ship to a new practice area or will I be pigeonholed forever to patents if I stay here for 2-3 years?

Currently at Big 4. Have offers for a PL/Principal at MBB and for a VP role at a Fortune 20 company. The VP role is more interesting and comp a bit better but I’m told would accelerate faster at MBB. The initial plan was to end up at MBB. What’s the best for future flexibility?

Is there another way, or is my career stuck in neutral?

Very Noob question: First year here that has done DD for a couple of deals representing the seller now. Essentially all I did was note whether certain agreements have change of control provisions, and if so, what the specific language is. I understand what the CoC do, but why am I doing this? MasterCard is offering me 13.5LPA as fixed pay and 7% as variable pay.

What’s one thing about being an entertainment lawyer that ppl are surprised to find out?
