Would you be bothered if a colleague (peer or subordinate) went on vacation to the Caribbean for Thanksgiving, then decided to stay there and work remotely while his wife continued to vacation for another 2 weeks? I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different

2yrs of post-undergrad experience at D and have offers from two FAANG companies. Worth it to stick it out for a couple more years to open up more offers down the road, or should I get out while I can?

People who don’t submit their time daily, how do you remember what you did and for how long? I’ve always just submitted each timer as soon as I finish a task—“call with x re y” really doesn’t take that long even if I’m busy, and if I don’t do it immediately I’ll forget all those little I did in the morning by the time I go to bed. No shade at all to those with different systems, just genuinely curious because I see a lot about catching up at month end on here and I have no idea how that works??

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

General corporate in NY looking to lateral into tech transactions at one of the EC/VC firms. I’ve heard that I may get a class cut if I make the move but I’m ok with that. My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Is the same true for tech trans or IP group?

Has anyone heard anything about Up or Out? Got an invite a couple of times, but trying to figure out if this is a scam or something.
