My problem has been that the folks teaching the courses aren't well-versed with real-world experience. The course material is fine, but Q&A is often a tragedy.

Yeah I feel this - the answers are too often just fluff and no application.
I didn't really find that they taught me anything new, but it was nice to have the paperwork saying I took the course. That is what you want.

Yeah I have the credential, it just feels so empty to have done it and paid so much to have learned nothing so other people /think/ I can do DEI
I teach 50 ways to fight bias. It's a lean in course and I've seen positive results across my org with it

I kind of have to agree. It is literally the same info and not that helpful from everything I have seen.
I joined the Society of Diversity and took the Certified Diversity Professional Certification training and test. Worth it. Becker also has some good DEI training that I've taken.
