Hello!
I am a Hospice RNCM. We are now having to do aide visits along with our nursing visits. It is getting to where it is starting to get overwhelming and I have been having horrible pain to my right hand/arm and now my left hand/arm is starting to hurt. My doctor had put me on a steroid (never again, made me feel very weird) but it hasn't helped. I'm wondering if this job is getting to "physically demanding" for me anymore and curious if anyone knows of any other options or tips?

Ugh I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sounds like the job is taking too much of a toll on your physical body. I would maybe look into nursing recruiting? Or some other kind of admin/HR type role that would allow you to use your expertise without being bedside?

like

Definitely an option! Thank you so much!

Oh so sorry.. therapy may help, my both hands and fingers was hurting too and tingling due to packaging job i was doing before working in healthcare setting.I could not even drive, I started therapy now I’m much better .

depending on where you are at on your career, you could train to become an NP or work for outpatient clinics where you'd be working on triazing and helping with running the clinic more than working hands-on all the time!

like

Maybe try hospital case management, you could even get on with the palliative or in patient hospice teams. It is very different from hospice case management but the experience you have is valuable. In inpatient CM you are not hands on.

OP I had the harsh reality of "you are getting too old for this" hit me a couple years ago. I just realized the role I was in was not all affecting my physical health but my mental health as well. Now that I am doing something different it is like a breath of fresh air.

That is honestly how I have been feeling! I think it's a combination for me also.
I've been thinking about doing something different. I am ready for a breath of fresh air!

Advice and/or consolation anyone? My wife and I (both above average health 30year olds) were trying for 11 months before getting pregnant and then had a week 5 early miscarriage a few months back. We got back to it and have been trying for the last 2 months again, still no luck. We’re freaking out… all we want is a family. Any similar stories? Advice? 😢
