Hey Everyone,

I'm a current college senior looking to go into sales post-grad. I've been on the job hunt for a couple of months now. It seems (and fairly so) that most sales positions are looking for 2-3 years of sales experience. I have interned for the past two years doing low-level sales along with running my own business. I seem to never get responses from applications.

Any advice on how I can get more companies to take a shot on me?

Dedicate time toward networking. You're securing access to future job opportunities along the way (building pipeline), and giving yourself a chance to sell your skillset before your application gets turned down.

Play the role, before getting the role :)

Best of luck!

A college student that has interned in sales for two years and run their own business. What type of business is it, did it involve sales/marketing, and is it somewhat successful? The right answer to those questions can build a case for a sales organization to take a chance on you.

I’ve been doing everything mgmt says to do but I’m making no progress in getting work. I can’t help but think I don’t fit in here and people don’t like me - especially because I went to a lower-ranked school, grew up poor, and am neurodivergent so networking is hard for me. Whole system feels very nepotistic. I just want to give up.

Ideally I’d exit to industry in Product/Program manager role but I really needed out and this came up so I took it. And Im on H1B so I cant keep interviewing/accept a better offer if it comes up, once the transfer is initiated.
I can’t decide if Im happy or sad. I’m relieved for now.

Hey FishBowl Friends, so I’m currently trying to break into tech sales/FinTech and I feel that due to my previous work history, I might not look like the ideal candidate on paper but I’m an extremely fast learner and very coachable. I’ve been a manger at a gym, got my degree in finance, worked as a client advisor at a top 3 auto dealer in the nation and now I’m a project manager at a solar company. I really want something that’s remote and steady, any recommendations on how to spruce myself up?
