I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

Have you talked to your manager about moving up? I would recommend talking to your manager about next steps and what you are lacking. That would be the best way to find out.
I did n the manager acknowledges it n says I have to improve on things and its never talked about again. I feel a little snowballed. Then someone else less than a year with company gets promoted this week. Im working on billing issues with the manager but it is a slow process. Something is not right. I should already be promoted due to 5 years experience
Leave, if they haven’t promoted you, they’re not going to.
You need to have the career conversation. You need to understand if your manager is backing you up for promotion or what is in your way. If a promotion is not possible for whatever reason, you can find his/her support to look for a different role. This is not easy, but if you go clear of your goals, can be a great outcome.
Especially in a career where there is an actual career path if you’re performance is up to par then you have a problem with your manager. Because when my people perform, I’m always looking to get them promoted.
I don’t think that the manager is backing them up for promotion since they haven’t been promoted yet. But if the conversation has not had been had with the leader, you’re right.
“Trying” to hit high metrics, isn’t the same as hitting them. Getting promoted is partly excelling in your current role and partly understanding the interview process well. It’s been a few years since my last interview, but at LM they did use a structured interview model. Understanding the way questions are asked and scored helped me obtain my current role. I would guess that the same is probably true at Nat G.
If you are great at interviews you can probably make up for being a mediocre employee and if you are a top tier employee, that can help make up for subpar interview skills. If you don’t have some kind of balance of the two, it’s hard to get promoted.
I haven't applied recently n im gonna try doing a certificate for my next role n try to level up with education this time. Even if it is on my off time n not thru carriers program. Our dept has high turnover n i did not see alot of people rn moving up like before.
OP you said you haven’t been promoted in five years, what has been your performance for the last five years? If you’re not meeting expectations on anything, especially in the last two years, they’re not going to promote somebody who’s not performing.
If you’ve met all the areas all five years and definitely in the last 2 to 3 years. There is a problem. What do you think it is?
I’m assuming you have levels in your current role, possibly an ascending 123 or a descending 321 maybe a senior role possibly a lead role, where are you in that hierarchy today according to your particular company?
How often do you get feedback from your manager? How are you performing against your personal and team/department goals?
Very good question. We have 1 on 1 meeting every month. I hit my marks every time but then the bar is raised again on metrics to a higher metric each time. Alot of changes lately
A certification is a good idea – what are you going to get certified in? Will the company pay for it for you?
Thank you
