If everything is “asap”, nothing is “asap”
The LinkedIn headers have gone too far now

That’ll fix it!

Intl tax about 130, M&A up to 160, Tax LLM California market
Similar for nyc. Smaller markets can be much lower.
I made $70k or $80k with my tax LLM about 10 years ago.
It provides a comfortable floor
1st year offer at KPMG international in major VHcOL was $115k base I believe.
Curious, what’s the end game with these folks? Starting salaries are not that high considering the expected workload as a junior
It depends on the individual, and also on your group/clients. But I’ve found it to be more flexible than a law firm in some ways, having done both and currently have many friends in both big and mid law. I didn’t start having crazy hours till I was getting closer to manager and even then, I used all my vacation and holidays. Fringe benefits can be good depending on the firm (e.g., 401k matching, and additional retirement contributions provided by firm of 2-6% of yearly salary depending on your level). Practically guaranteed annual bonuses from 1% to 20% of salary (obviously not as high as big law but also not tied to hours just your ranking). Hours requirements come up to around 1500-1700 depending on level (you’ll work more but this makes it easier to take hours and take vacations)z The only thing (for me) big law has over this is salary and contract drafting experience. I started at $140k (125k base and 15k bonus). And now make over 200k. In total comp (salary + bonus + benefits) I make more now than in big law but base I make less now than in big law. I also feel like international secondments are easier to come by (not a walk in the park but feel more possible once manager). End goal is usually in house or lateral to a law firm or leave tax completely. I’ve seen all three. I’ve also seen people move into the counsel or risk management teams of their big4. On the flip side I’ve friends who hated it and would never come back.
