I applied to a job posting for Baker Tilly and within 24 hours have already been denied. My resume aligns with their job posting for a IT RAS Senior Associate, and I even have 5 years experience when they’re searching for 2-4. Is this a sign that something may be wrong with my resume/format? I guess I’m just surprised I wouldn’t at least have gotten a call from a recruiter/HR personnel seeing as I do exactly what they’re hiring for.

Probably hiring freeze.

Agreed

It could be that they already had an internal hire/promo for the job and only posted because of “policy”.

To double check, I would provide ChatGPT with a copy of the job description and a copy of your resume, then ask it to adjust your resume for the job. See what it suggests, but do not take it verbatim. Look for the instructions online.

like

No, it could be a hiring freeze but this has happened to me for nearly every job I’ve applied to at most major accounting firms.

They probably use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to monitor and if you don’t have enough keyword matches on your resume with the job description, the system rejects you.

There is no way a human reads your resume within 24 hours at most places.

In fact, I’ve been denied before within hours. It’s all the shitty ATS systems. Don’t take it personally. Write your resume bullets with the language in the job description so it matches. Or try to find recruiters on LinkedIn who work there and will manually read your resume.

Good luck.

like

It could be but that is unlikely. Its more likely that the current job market is the reason you were denied so fast. Many of these jobs being posted aren't actually being hired for and that is part of the problem. At this point it really is a numbers game. The more you apply for the better your chances of getting hired.

Thank you everyone! I used a few different resources to build my resume. Even Canva has AI in their resume building tool now! Good luck to everyone on the job hunt. What’s meant to be will come to us

Why would they hire anyone when they can just buy yet another company?

Hello! I’m a Talent Acquisition Manager at a 300 FTE sized gov contractor with 2 recruiters under me. One of my recruiters and I are both having babies in August and will be out for 12 weeks. Or any advice for a short term solution?

Went through multi-day loop for L5 SA and felt confident in my interactions. Presentation went well with no lack of answers for follow up questions. Just found out 6 days later I will not be receiving an offer, and it is policy to not provide feedback of gaps or reasons behind no offer. Also found out they ask you not to reapply for 1 to 2 years for same role. Would anyone recommend an alternate path for feedback on interview (outside of recruiter) and is the 1-2 year policy true?

I am interviewing with a company. Last week, one week after the interview, my hiring manager reached out to me with a couple of clarifying questions. We talked then I sent him recommendation letters from my previous employers. He said that I should have an answer from them this week whether I get an offer or not. I haven’t heard back since and yesterday I reached out to the recruiter to get some status updates. She has not responded. It’s already Friday. Is it a bad sign or am I overthinking?

How do find a recruiter in the legal field? Have been looking for a job for a year now and trying to transition into another practice area. Applied to more than 20 jobs and still no offers. I feel like I might need some help.
Also, I have no idea how these arrangements work. Do you pay the recruiter to look for the jobs or do you pay them when you get the job? Or does the employer pay them?

Is it bad manners or just a bad idea to go back to a recruiter if they got you a job that wound up being a bad fit?
For context, I don’t think they misled me. The job changed 3 weeks after I got hired, and got stuck in a role that’s just not a good fit. Gave it 6 months of honest effort and I’m ready to start job hunting.
I saw this recruiter make a post on LinkedIn, and I liked working with them the first time, and I want to reach out. But I don’t know what they’ll think.

I was told to expect a written offer from one of the Big4 soon, however the HR team has stated that they are experiencing a back-log and will get back to me as soon as they hear back. I have been following up for the past 3-4 weeks and can’t help but feel nervous that it won’t fall through. Has anyone been in this situation with the Big4? Can they ghost you if they have already given you an offer (via phone) and you have settled compensation and start date with them verbally?
