I can’t find a job and it’s stressing me out like crazy. I am a 28M who graduated 2025 spring with masters of accounting and I have a Batchelor in finance. I passed cfa level 1 and sitting for level 2 in august. I only have a summer internship back in 2024, and have been working at the restaurant ever since. I’ve applied nearly everywhere I can think of and even basic entry jobs won’t hire me even when I told them how qualified I am. I have a kid due soon and loan interest to pay off.

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

Will it be too high salary to ask for a Manager(M2)-Data Analytics position in Deloitte Consulting UK?
If no, then will it be good enough for 3 people to lead a decent life in London (Like Hounslow or Milton Keyes) including a 2 year old kid. Traveling to London on daily basis.
If yes, then kindly suggest a reasonable salary range for this role.

Any tips from women who had to take maternity leave while contracting? I’d been hoping to switch to a FT role before COVID then well you know...After 3 months I finally landed a couple contract opportunities but no luck yet with a FT role. Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?
