I have two years of automotive/aerospace manufacturing experience and am looking for new opportunities. I recently applied to a Solution Engineer - Commercial Manufacturing, Automotive, Energy (MAE) role at Salesforce, and it sounds like a great fit. Is anyone willing to offer me a referral or advice on how to move forward in the hiring process? Salesforce

The biggest problem with going to law school is that there's a high likelihood of becoming a lawyer afterwards.
Any real lawyer will tell you not to go to law school.
This is probably the worst reason to go to law school. And it will show to your class mates, who are actually passionate about law.
Since you are in consulting, why not get a full time 1 year international MBA from Insead, IMD top 20's in the world?
OP PwC has been hiring JDs with their MBA classes. Seek one out and talk to them about this, there is probably a reason they're choosing to come here instead of those big law firms (also because they're here I'd assume its not because they can't get a job).
I think my view is short sighted. Law school seems like a lot of fun and intellectually challenging. However there are fewer legal jobs. That being said, salaries start at $180k for lawyers from the best schools.
D1 the game has changed. Only top 10 law schools folks are now loaded and they too have to scramble for positions just like MBAs. S
I think it's much harder to make the roi work in law school than b school...especially if you can't get into a top 5 law program
Try making partner. Magical money isnt a thing, its hard work. You think those 180k top lawyers chill and party all the time? Dont think so. Also, if you're not passionate about it and only go for money you will never be top guy.
top 14 jd here, chose consulting cuz the pay vs work life balance is sooooo much better. (everyone here complains about lack of life outside of work but wait till you're counting time in 6 minute intervals for your clients and cramming to make a court filing deadline). dont go to law school unless you really want to practice law. the salary isnt worth it (and agreed with the above very few, top of the class from top law schools even have the option for that high salary). my friends from tier 2 law schools dont even break 6 figures.
Better have s niche
Most lawyers dont make 180 - whats your plan and target ROI on the law school investment. If you are going to spend 6 figures, having a plan and niche to hit your target is key. Patent law, tax law, M&A - these should be some of your targets
I thought every lawyer was loaded to the gills?????
Ey3 debating exactly that.
Great ANOTHER lawyer. If you have a salary complex, make yourself indispensable- not a lemming.
Dont go to law school unless it is a top 14 if you are looking for a big salary. Even that is a very serious risk. Second everyone's comments about going for MBA instead. Don't spend money like that for an intellectual exercise. Join a high quality book club or something like that. I'm married to a lawyer so been there, done that, and still paying off his loans
True. True. True. Also, there are a million law firms out there and you have to land at one that is a culture fit. Not uncommon for people in my husband's office to go into the office on Sunday in casual clothes and still be there on Monday in what they were wearing because they never went home or slept that night. Not uncommon for him to leave for the office before I awake and come home after I am in bed. Talk to a bunch of people before you make the decision. If they ever put a search function on here, search for the other law school posts.
You don't need to go to a top school if you plan well. Goid friend was a CPA and got his JD at a tier 2. He can do tax work, forensics, trusts, etc. If you get audited he can represent you. Thats why he can up-charge acctg and tax work and make way more than 180. If you know patents, import/export or M&A, you can make a lot of money incontractual advisory.
P3 thanks. I am an SA and know people with Jds in the SA class from good schools like NYU. Maybe that's a good place to start.
Yeah, NYU is #4
