I recently interviewed with MITRE for a systems engineering role to make the move from Leidos where I feel underpaid for the work I do and for my experience ($85K). I have 4 YOE, a STEM degree, and soon will have a Masters Degree. I’m looking to make around $120K in the new role at Mitre. Does anyone have any insight into comp there? This would be in the DC metro area. Does $120K seem reasonable or am I dreaming?

Big 4 is hiring Everybody with a pulse
Check your school’s career development office. Some of our entry-level roles are posted in schools and are never advertised publicly.
Big 4 and also checkout built in. I am going to say it’s harder to find a remote job when you’re fresh in the industry. I’ve been through it
I would tend to agree being fresh out
Depends what types of roles are you looking for?
I’d broaden the search to beyond just remote work. A lot of companies are moving to hybrid schedules. I’m addition, what are you looking for within IT? IT is a broad umbrella term. For instance, if you’re wanting to go into security or networking or cloud work, you’re going to want to beef up that resume with some certifications. Maybe you’re looking into development you need to build a portfolio/list of projects. My point is, narrow down what you want to do and focus on improving your resume for that specific sector of IT.
For starters, I’d look at the comptia sec+. You really need to pick a sector, and then look at the job requisites. What are they asking for? Most entry level security positions likely have sec+ on there. In addition, a lot of companies are migrating components into cloud platforms. I’d look into certs from azure or aws to set you apart from other new grads. Good luck!
