I have generalized anxiety. I find that I have to immediately respond to emails that I can quickly reply to. if it doesn’t require much work i’ll open my laptop to reply even if it’s not urgent

EY1 has great suggestions! I close my mail box and put my phone away when I need to focus. (I close chat too if I'm really serious haha). There's always a sense of urgency here but if I don't shut out the world sometimes, I won't get my work done. I also found a way of organizing my inbox with tags, filters and flags (I'll try to find the article to share) so that I can file things away after I've looked at them. Also have you ever tried the pomodoro method for getting things done? You dedicate 25 minutes to something then take a 5 min (or longer) break and then do another 25. It kinda helps me to have that set time frame cause I can start going down rabbit holes sometimes 😂 productive rabbit holes, but still rabbit holes

Oh and lots and lots and lots of lists to keep track of stuff. I try to use keep but I still need a notebook

how do I manage/stop this? any suggestions?

And know that you will reply to any emails during that time so you can focus on what you're doing right now

How do you respond to a super close friend who says they're not making masks mandatory at their June wedding (about 150 guests) because they want to have fun. My 64 y/o mom is really struggling with her mental health and refuses to acknowledge it or take action. She is already difficult to have a relationship with, toxic, always shaming, blaming, dismissive and refuses to have important conversations.
6 years ago her husband/my step dad was killed suddenly and tragically. He had a man cave room that she has not touched since. It is beyond filthy, unsanitary and poor living conditions.

Has anyone been successful in negotiating the schedule on a global pregnancy bill? My provider won't bill by visit and split the global cost into four payments all due by the 28th week. 48/M, average health. Few weeks ago I had a seizure out of the blue. First time ever, no family history. At the hospital given lots of tests: MRI, CT, EKG, EEG, blood/urine/COVID tests. Everything came back normal. Since hospital discharge I’ve seen cardiologist and wore halter monitor for a week. All good. Have neurologist appointment next month but afraid no one knows why this happened. In the meantime no one wants me to drive a car. Can this happen again? Can anyone relate to this situation?

What's the biggest health myth you've heard that you'd like to bust? Mine is that supplements are always a healthier option than prescription or OTC meds. A lot of the supplements on the shelf contain all types of unnatural ingredients and can still be harmful depending on the dosage.

Anybody have to take time off for long-covid? How has your HR handled it? I feel like any info I have gotten on FMLA and disability is because I’ve brought it up and have had to follow up multiple times.

I just boomeranged to Google from a very hyped, private fintech - and my experience there was completely miserable. Bad culture, input vs output oriented perf, bureaucratic, etc.

I feel relieved to be out of that mix, but I feel so invalidated by friends, colleagues etc who gaslight by saying publicly how great the company was - even when many of them would reveal to me in private (often in tears) that they were miserable too. I feel very alone in my experience and (cont in comments)

Might be the wrong bowl but finding it extremely difficult to focus on work post busy season.
