Firm Fair and Consistent. Just be the same you every day and don’t treat anyone special or worse and you’ll be fine. Treat people how you want to be treated you can’t always make people happy but if it’s fair and right they will understand and if not it’s not a great team member
Prove that it is not so, because it is not so, right?
It's okay that you want to make everyone happy but if they already take you as a joke, you must start setting limits.
That is what happens when you are very good and if you suddenly change it, they will believe that it is because you are upset, therefore I recommend that you continue like this but do not tolerate any deviation in behavior or poor work performance.
You must go one by one talking, making it clear that your main motivation is to motivate him but at the same time achieve a productive and happy team, which is achieved by solving problems from birth.
A good way is to make your objectives to promote the company very clear, you do it by talking to each of your workers in a serious and forceful way, that way they will see that you are good vibes but that by hard means you can be very bad and the respect will return little by little.
People react absolutely to a good person and fearfully to a forceful person, you must be a hybrid, you must make it clear that you want to make them happy only if they do their job properly, then you will stop being a joke.
It's important to clearly set your expectations and demonstrate consistency in the standards you set for yourself and others. Take the time to explain why certain policies or procedures are necessary, and be firm in your decisions. Additionally, make sure you’re giving timely feedback to your team members
I think the best approach is to start by acknowledging that you are aware of the perception of being a pushover, and making it clear that you wish to have an open dialogue with your team. It's important to emphasize that while your priority is to make everyone happy and ensure productivity, you also need to demonstrate strong leadership skills in order to effectively manage them.
As a new manager, it can be really tough to find the right balance between being an effective leader and a supportive colleague. It may take some time for you to demonstrate that you are serious about being a leader
I understand that it can be difficult to adjust to a new role and be taken seriously by your team. A great way to combat this perception is by taking the time to get to know everyone on your team, understand their individual needs, and build an open relationship of trust so that they can feel comfortable coming to you with questions or concerns
Remember not to focus solely on pleasing everyone, sometimes it's necessary for you as a manager to make decisions that won't always make everyone happy for the team as a whole to reach its goals.
A good way to combat their perception of you as a pushover is to clearly set expectations and boundaries from the start. Let them know that while you are open to feedback and want everyone's input in decision-making, there are certain decisions that are ultimately yours as the manager. Show them that you take your role seriously and will hold yourself accountable for any decisions you make.
Simply treat others like you would want to be treated. It really is as simple as that.
Regular one on one follow ups with your team and LISTEN to what they have to say. Pick at least one thing they mention and follow up the next month with that to let them know you take them seriously. Once they realize you care and aren’t just going through the motions, as their previous bosses probably have, they will return the gesture in kind.
