I’m so happy this bowl exists 🥹🫶🏼
I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

You probably can't quite grasp it through the screen with the limited amount of what is being shared, but I promise you that everyone in here has been exactly where you are right now, and just as importantly, we don't feel that way anymore.
As is the case with many here, AA is what finally worked for me.
Thank you everyone!
We are here if and when you need us
I was in your shoes and hit rock bottom back in August. Sober 4 months now and it’s the best thing I’ve done. It was hard at first but hit the gym, started a cardio routine and just trusted the process. AA has been a lifesaver, and I’m not religious. I highly recommend it if you haven’t already started. Good luck, and like everyone else has said you have a great support system here
Many of us have been there. You're not alone. Are you open to trying AA? (only requirement is a DESIRE to stop drinking). Feel free to DM too.
Find a room - it’s a tough road. I’m still on it, but being around ppl who understand it helps.
Start by going to an AA meeting. Just chat gpt a list of choices for the time that works for you. It gives you results instantly with zoom link.
You have lots of support here and in your community. No need to delay. We got you and so do your locals.
You cannot do it alone, that's a fools errand. But AA can absolutely help. The AA meeting finder app is very useful. Just go to a few meetings, listen. Speaker/Lead mtgs are a great start, as are Beginners meetings. Dont give up on yourself, your life has value, and the fellow AA members want to help. I started drinking at age 13, didnt walk into a mtg. until I was 55. I'm 2 years and 4 months sober, it's changed my life.

Hope you’re doing alright - it’s especially hard in consulting if you’re travelling a lot. Happy to chat if you want to DM, it can be a lot to navigate especially if you’re seeking medical care in the US

I can’t tell you to go to an AA meeting, and I can’t say if you’re an alcoholic or not, but what I can tell you, is that when I would start drinking I could never guarantee you how much I’d drink or when I’d stop, and during those times that I was “taking a break from drinking” I couldn’t tell you how long I’d be able to stay stopped.
My life was getting more and more unstable and I was getting more and more fearful every time a drinking occasion arose (which, if I’m honest, was every single weekend).
I ended up walking into an AA meeting and eventually just surrendered, and it’s made all the difference. 6+ years of sobriety later and I live a different life; one that I actually want, rather than one that I hoped would end.
