I was laid off back in April but accepted a position with a new company about a month ago. My last day at my “current” job was Friday July 12th.
I’ve already signed my offer letter, I’ve had lunch with the new team and completed all my paperwork via docusign (so I won’t have this to complete when I start).. I don’t start until August 13 (took a month off with severance).

Got caught up in company lay offs and I’m not sure what to do. I sometimes feel like I haven’t acquired any actual skills during my stay to pivot into an actual management consulting role I want.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?

I’ve been working at a rather prestigious midsized firm in a big city for almost a year and a half now. I have been having a lot of trouble picking up work from senior partners. We are required to bill at least 150 hours per month to meet our requirement. My months are typically only 110-130 hours. FL peoples: I signed a lease for a new place to start May 1 as my current landlord sold the unit I'm in. Turns out, the buyer wants to keep renting the unit and asked if I want to stay. Of course I want to stay. My new lease hasn't started so I'm pretty sure I can easily back out. In my organization, most with my role are commission based.
