Working for a senior who is beyond horrible. She talks to you like you’re stupid and makes it sound like you’re absolutely terrible at what you’re doing. She’s made 5 other associates cry during her 5 year career. Got someone fired and made another person quit. It’s known around the office that she can no longer have a female associate, because she talks down to females more than she does males. I came along and thought I could deal with it but she literally makes me want to not log on tomorrow.

Mid level Electrical Engineer in the greater Baltimore, MD area making $115k base w/ $20k sign on bonus. No yearly bonus. I started this job in April of this year. 2-3 years experience. When I onboarded they told me to expect promotion to EE III in about a year. I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

Under contract for nearly 1.1M. Wife and I are at HHI $315k. Will go up in the future, $400k in 3 years and $500k possible in 5-7 years. We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.
