When you say more accurate…you mean calories or HR ?
Intervals will always be a better burn than steady state. You can do the workout on your watch, the stairs should have some pre-programmed workouts, or simply 1 minute hard1/1minute easy for 15-30 minutes.
Yeah if it’s the study I’m thinking of, I remember the calorie’s burned were about the same for HIIT and LISS. But the LISS group worked out for an average of 30 minutes, while the HIIT group worked out for an average of 20 minutes. So the calories were the same but the HIIT group got to spend less time working out.
Also, if I remember right, the HIIT group walked ~2000 less steps (about one mile less) on average, but saw more fat loss. So less work, and less walking, for the same calories lost and more fat burn. So I think HIIT is more bang for your buck.
