Usually virtual interviews have a way to be in the lobby. The interviewer then adds you into the 'interview room' when they are ready. Perfectly okay to be in the lobby early.
OP, I would do the audio/video check the day before. Ensure you have the latest version downloaded of whatever program they are using. Set up a call on the software with a family member or friend so you can adjust background, potential lighting etc. It doesn't mean the actual call will be flawless, but you'll have covered some of the bigger issues in advance. Also have the contact info of the interviewer handy in case they don't show up for the video call on time (which has actually happened to me more than sound or video issues)
5 minutes early seems reasonable
Agreed. That's what I tend do, to be honest.
I join at least 5 mins early. Always. Best of luck!
