Hi all,
I’m looking to relocate to Seattle. Does anyone know if any of the Big 4 are still recruiting campus hires to start in Summer/Fall 2023? I’m open to either Audit or Tax, but I have internship experience in Tax.
I applied and received an offer at a Big 4 in San Francisco (campus hire), but I’ve decided Seattle is the better fit for me as it will be closer to my hometown and family in Vancouver.
Thanks!

JPMorgan Chase recently introduced a policy change to increase the notice period to 60 days. I'm a 602 and resigned recently and yet my LWD is showing up as 30 days from now. Anyone recently resigned can confirm if they are facing the same or new policy is in effect. This is causing confusion with the next companies I'm interviewing with.
For Oracle referrals, please DM

EY recruiting is such a mess. Applied and did a pre-recorded video interview, heard nothing for like 3 weeks. Then I get a random call saying they liked me and would I be available to attend an interview the following day. I say yes but never receive an email or additional details. Call back the number and it goes to voicemail. The following week I get a rejection email. Just so frustrating EY

Dallas - no state income tax, more affordable rent than the other cities, great night life, good weather 9 months out of the year (July-Sept is miserably hot... but then again pools and lakes are abundant). Also, if Austin is a choice, it’s a fantastic city (music, food, outdoorsy activities).
“Smoke shows, land whales and female talent” men are disgusting !
Denver or Chicago imo. Best balance of price and activity. Dallas would be good too but I ain't about that weather.
Denver or Chicago. NYC and SF are waaay too high COL to be worth it. Dallas is in Texas (enough said).
Have visited Dallas several times—- not much going on there, especially compared to austin or San Antonio. Chicago is great!! Happy medium of COL and culture—- always lots of stuff going on and things to do even when it gets cold. Plus, the architecture is stunning, comedy is best in the US, and it’s full of history.
i find that most complaints about high COL in SF come from people who don’t live here I’ve lived here 5 years and probably save/invest just as much as anyone else. My rent averages $1200, food/drinks cost more just because I go out a lot more than I would in other cities, and you can offset some costs by not needing a car. So yes it’s a little more expensive than other cities but the value is definitely there.
Also, salary raises keep up with COL for the most part. For example, as a senior I made $82k when the counterparts I started with in LA (at the same starting salary) made $72. And as a senior 3 i make $107 and I know someone my level in Midwest making $75.
Depends on what you’re looking for - Denver would be my choice. You’re only a couple hours from the mountains so if you enjoy outdoors activities then Denver would be the best! Plus they have the best burrito place I’ve ever been to - Illegal Pete’s.
Confirmed: female talent level is significantly higher on the coasts. NYC was just ridiculous. That is something else I miss about my time there.
Dallas has some talent, but much higher proportion of land whales. Facts.
EY1 - I am still blown away at your rent cost $1200 is incredible for the city. Don't ever get rid of it.
@EY 1 20 mins walk from 560 Mission and paying $1200? Woah you must have lived in a different SF than I do
NYC hands down. I think enjoying the city depends on how quickly you can dive into the culture and make friends. Busy season here is cold and unforgiving. The other seasons make it worth it though. I've own my own car and home in other cities and I gave them both up in a heartbeat. No regrets. Except I do miss having a back yard. If you like to keep moving, always have something to do, meet people, enjoy new experiences NYC offers it daily. The city truly never sleeps and it will toughen you up quick. The world is your oyster.
I agree EY1 "quality of life" IS relative. I love this city.
Nyc
SF!!!! Love it here. If you’re female and single you’ll have an amazing time. If not, still amazing just less of an ego boost
What do you like to do? Anything outdoors and Denver is the place for you.
I echo pwc2...also came from an office in the Midwest. Haven’t been here too long but loving it so far
EY 1 from what I’ve read it seems like public transportation sucks in SF/ Silicon Valley área so a car is a must
If you compare the same salary obviously the Midwest will allow you to afford more. But news flash, the salary isn’t the same. Yes you will still save less but quality of life is also a pretty subjective term. I’m enjoying life more in NYC than I did in the mid west
Um LA should be in that option!! You'll love it
Salaries do NOT keep up with COL. I’m in Dallas and my SF counterparts make 10% more. But SF is like 100% more expensive. Plus the California state income tax. It doesn’t make sense for salaries to be adjusted for COL from the firm’s perspective anyway. You can charge a client more for a project just because they’re located in a different city. So the only way to maintain margins without upping the billable rates is to increase sales volume. But then your staff would be wildly overworked.
NYC is hit or miss. I transferred here but not loving the fact I can't do anything because I can't afford to do anything. But love the fact I'm in the city. Going to leave the city here soon but that's my two cents
Dallas depending on how much you like sports, hot weather, and driving
I just reread all the chat about women. Did KPMG OP ever mention he was straight?
