I’m 33, and getting out of a toxic relationship of 1 year. My face looks quite sunken, skin a bit sagged and I’ve definitely lost facial volume. I also lost ~30lbs in 5 months. I no longer have that plump look.

Supplements or things you recommend? Im in NYC/ Long Island so appreciate any recs. Trying to get as natural as possible.

Don’t want Botox or fillers. A bit nervous but considering micro-needling, my skin is in pretty good condition (just lost volume and plumpness)

Hi, I’m a personal trainer/nutrition fanatic who has been on a personal health journey for a good while now. My approach has always been being effective while being efficient and I wanted to give you a few pointers on improving skincare safely and effectively.

1. What you eat. I know, I know. People hate this answer, but I’ll tell you something. Nothing has been able to clear my skin like adopting a water, vitamin, mineral, and protein rich diet. Balancing your plate in thirds (upside down peace sign) with the bigger portion coming from leafy greens (spinach, romaine), bell pepper, and/or tomato to name a few (you can definitely substitute for your favorite veggies, but the ones in their raw state will provide the most nutrients). The other two smaller plate portions above can house high quality protein and fat (right)(chicken breast and avocado or nuts, salmon, white fish) (one portion) and starches ( basmati rice, wild rice or sweet potato)(other portion).

For breakfast you can do the same and sub with fruits for the larger carb portion (papaya is great for skin, but be careful if pregnant. Maybe pineapple or mango will work better, but don’t forget about the abundance of fruit as well as don’t be afraid to pair.) for protein and fat portions you can do eggs, protein shakes, turkey bacon, avocado, and many other options! Starches for the other portion can include oats or buckwheat.

Cooking, be careful to eat foods saturated in highly processed oils, better options are coconut oil, butter, or ghee!

Eat until your full, and limit snack/junk/fast food to 10% of what you consume on a weekly basis. So if you eat 2x per day during the week, that mans you can go for chick fil a once a week and have a bag of chips, a cookie, or snack of choice at another point in the week.

2. What you put on your skin. Whatever you use on your skin, make sure you look at the ingredients and see if you can recognize/pronounce the ingredients, if not it may not be the best. My go to skin care products are castor oil, grape-seed oil, tea tree oil, and that’s it! My diet really takes care of the rest! You skin absorbs everything you put on it so you want to make sure the ingredients aren’t interfering with your body’s natural processes that keep you lively, vibrant, and full of vitality!

3. Rest! This is huge, but very difficult in our society and the demand for our time continues to increase. Ideally 8 hours of sleep starting at 9pm produces very good results, however if that isn’t feasible, getting as much sleep as possible, having your last meal (food/water) at least 3 hours before bed (want to poop before you sleep), and creating a dark quiet sleep environment will be like Christmas for your hormones, which will translate to your skin as a byproduct!

That was a lot, but if you have any other questions, email me at milhigh19@gmail.com. I may be able to provide more specifics help to you!

Invest in high good skin care products. Drink lots of water and start taking hair, nails and skin vitamins along with a multi vitamin. I was just told today my my bestie that the new Oil of O’Lay line, especially the Super Serum is awesome.

Any specific vitamins you’d recommend? And specific skin care products?

The best way to plump your skin without fillers is to hydrate — find a good hyaluronic acid + a really good moisturizer, drink water, use sunscreen. Quality tallow is suuper great.

Not extremely high-end, but I’m open to options!

Thorne advanced nutrients. Not for skin specifically but overall health will make you look and feel better. Congratulations on your new chapter 💕

I love Skinmedica facial cleanser, moisturizer, and .25 retinol complex. My skin looks so much brighter. I just had a hydro facial and look so fresh. I want to try microneedling next.

Get sleep, eat healthy fats, exercise, drink water. It took a year to get where you are and it will take at least 6mos to heal your body.

like

They’re spendy, but I’m loving Nutrafol (Google “Nutrafol 30% off code Reddit” and you can get 30% up to a 3 month supply). Second what everyone is saying about hydration — whatever it takes, drink lots of water (electrolyte packets or drops to make it taste good if you need a boost!). Spend time outdoors and get a little sun and vitamin D; do things that bring you joy — it always shows!

For skincare, look into CosRx and Good Molecules lines. Very affordable, highly effective and targeted. Snail Muscin by CosRx heals and plumps the skin with hyaluronic acid; Good Molecules (you can get online or at Ulta) is between $8-20/bottle of product and I love the Bakuchiol oil (natural form of retinol to baby step in because retinol can be harsh) then step up to their Retinol for either normal or oily skin depending on skin type. They also have Vitamin C serums and Hyaluronic Acid ones too!

Get a great eye cream. I like Cerave Skin Renewing eye cream and use it night and day + Snp Gold + Collagen eye patches (I get this and my CosRx from Costco Next for ⅓ the normal price!).

Use a gentle cleanser. I use Simple Foaming Face Wash or Gel Face Wash, but anything basic will do great.

When you want to level up your exfoliation, splurge on some Aqua Gel Cure gentle exfoliator — game changer! And/or use an overnight peel like Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating Treatment (a good dupe for the pricey Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos serum).

For reference, I’m 39, no injectables or other things, and friends have started texting me with screenshots of photos saying I look like I’m aging in reverse, which honestly feels like a win!

Start with 1-2 things and find a routine you like. Your skin will bounce back beautifully!

Does anyone here suffer from bipolar disorder? How do you manage it and working in law? I see a therapist, and a psychiatrist, and am on medication, but I still have days where I wake up and I’m so depressed I can’t move. Hi guys

This question may not be related. However I wanted to know from personal and family point of view how it is like to relocate from India and live abroad .
Let's say Family consists of husband , wife and a kid . I understand we will get good facilities, education, cleanliness , good air etc , however I wanted to check whether people gel up easily in the new environment? Don't they feel loneliness/ difficult to adjust? Do they look for similar asian nationalities to kill boredom?

During the pandemic I dove into my self care (found a therapist, learned I was having seizures and got on meds for that). My journey has been difficult and not pretty to watch. Somewhere along the line I feel like my fiancé saw too much. I no longer feel like romantic parters and instead feel like we have a “caretaker/patient” type relationship. I don’t feel sexy or attractive anymore. I talked to him about this and he feels bad. But I feel guilty for bringing it up. Anyone else had this issue?

Trigger: rare illness post birth

Just sharing that I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia 3 days after giving birth despite not having risk factors or preeclampsia in my pregnancy. Sharing as I had absolutely no idea about this illness.

Main things to do are check your BP everyday at least the first ten days after you give birth, and go to hospital if it's very high (over 160/110). If you get severe headache or stomach ache then also be vigilant.

Happy to answer any questions!

Went for a pre-employment drug test yesterday. They never asked me if I was on any medications. I had to ask them and was told "oh yeah, just put any you may think make a difference in this text box." I put Xanax, Flexeril, and gabapentin. All of which are prescribed and used as directed. Now I'm terrified that I should have put ALL my meds, to including my psych meds. I've been sober over 12 years and never touched drugs (just booze) but I'm having a full blown panic attack.

Interested in everyone’s opinions on replica luxury. I ask because, as noted in the previous thread re: Chanel’s price increases, the quality of authentic luxury bags is going way down while the price increases consistently. Specifically Chanel and LV.
