I’m a registered mental health intern and I had an interview with a private practice owner last week. Generally the interview went well, but I also gathered that she may have seen me as a liability since I expressed I also wanted to be in private practice at some point. She even said her colleagues told her that’s a red flag for them. My question is- why would that be a deal breaker and should I avoid saying that in the future? Bummed because I actually wanted that position.

Interviewed for a GS-15 (same agency but different office) and totally aced the interview with excellent answers. They know I’m a top performer with senior references. However I noticed there was an internal candidate who has been there for few years and interviewed that’s a veteran. I feel my chances just sank and want to gauge thoughts.
