In a bit of a self inflicted predicament here.. so any advice is welcome. I currently work at an ID firm.. I have been here for about 2 years now. One of the attorney’s that I worked for and really liked just left and it almost solidified my feelings about wanting to leave now that he’s gone. The firm has treated me well and recently gave me a raise and a second remote day.. but there is a lot of cattiness and gossips that goes on within the office starting from the top… cont in comments

Can't hurt to look into it. You would still need to interview for the role, and that would give you an opportunity to vet the company, as well. I'm sure your friend would give you the inside scoop, as well, so this would be a rare opportunity to really evaluate a potential employer.

Thank you :)

Weigh your options. Is the pay and benefits better? Are they a solid firm that you don't foresee going under? Is the culture and job security good? If so, I'd leverage my way into leaving. A fully remote position which means you're not commuting. If you leverage your pay you may be able to see an increase. Big draw from this - YOU'RE NOT LEAVING ON BAD TERMS.

Thank you!

Gossip is the worst kind of toxic office behavior. As a fully remote worker myself, it can’t be beat IMO.

One of my old colleagues reached out to me and will be retiring from her firm by the end of this year and asked if I was interested in her position which is fully remote. I am a bit reluctant because my job now isn’t terrible aside from the gossip and I feel bad even thinking to leave being that they have been trying to accommodate me.. but fully remote sounds way more appealing. Any thoughts or advice you’d like to offer? Thank you!

Also if you don’t, can you tell me their name? lol

Wait six months and then ask..

Ask yourself that if you get offered the job and your current employer gives you a pay bump and allows you to be fully remote, would you still leave? It helps to put things in perspective.

What is the average paralegal salary in NC for a commercial real estate law office? I’ve been with a great firm for the last 9 years but am starting to wonder if I’m being compensated fairly. The company is about 30 employees (mostly attorneys) but I work primary for 4 of the attorneys.

How do you know when it is time to move on. I am the only litigation paralegal billing over 2,500 a year consistently. Love the boss I work the most for but that person has grown distant. Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

Where do you find the time to get everything done in the day when you have multiple partners, associates and equity partners that interrupt you and want things turned around immediately while simultaneously working on deadlines? I feel like I’m the only one that can’t manage a 70+ case load without letting someone down. I constantly have to say “Can I do this tomorrow?” Etc. I don’t even have time to bill on the clock. I work until 7p at least every night. Top 10 family law firm.
