I recently joined IBM and waiting for the project. In April I applied for an position but no test or interview was scheduled and recruiter asked me to give other email id as my application was already present in HSBC portal. There are multiple point programs out there. You sound like a beginner with this question, so I don't think Amex is for you. I would start with Chase cards.

I agree when starting out as someone who was initially intimidated by points and came from cash back only credit cards. I started with Capital One Venture X, Chase Sapphire and then finally added American Express cards.
It would be if you’ll be spending money you otherwise wouldn’t be spending. Also keep in mind that total numbers of approvals within certain time periods matter.
Amex has a great rewards program. If you're already spending a lot of money, go for it.
AMEX also sticks behind the buyer should you get into a dispute. They are the absolute best at this! I am a huge AMEX fan!!
