Is it terrible to expense all 4 parts and exam fee for the CPA exam before my last official day (as I'm one of the unlucky ones to be laid off )?

Fuck no. Run all expenses through that were incurred while you were employed.

like

Think of how overworked you were in past busy seasons and take everything outta there that isn't bolted down.

like

I'm technically still employed through mid month in January, so why the hell not right?!

Consider it part of your severance package. Just do it. Worst case is they deny you.

like

Take all the supplies you can get

like

Yes! I would do it. Are you a staff or senior?

like

Suppose they'll deny it if they don't like that haha do it

like

Do it. I'm surprised they let you stay. I thought they were letting people go the same day.

like

It's insane. No client engagement, just getting paid to find a new job. Might as well study and take the exams in Jan.

like

Yep I can still go in, print things, use the fax, have access to my email, etc.

like

I had planned on taking the exams Jan, feb, and April anyway. Not taking supplies. No point in that

like

You're having the firm pay for tests that you'll take when you're no longer with the firm? With ethics like that, I'm not surprised you were let go. Good luck.

like

Nice. Take advantage of it.

like

EY has it where you can expense as you pay? KPMG just reimburses once you've passed them all

like

How do you know you're being laid off? Did they already tell you?

Yeah they did. Senior status

Oh man I'm sorry. Applying to other big4s? Tax?

Not sure what I'm doing yet. Meeting with a recruiter this week. Audit 👎🏻

^^that was my thought exactly.

I am looking for some advice or opinions to apply for consulting jobs right now. I currently work at a mid-sized/regional firm, but plan move to a different city later this year. I have ~4 yr xp working on system implementations, IT policies/controls, and BPO, but my undergrad GPA wasn't the best (I did become a CPA and CISA though). Should I try to apply to big 3/big 4? Stay mid-sized? Get an MBA or Masters? Move and pray? Thanks in advanced for any comments!
