I've been at my company for over 15 years (40f) and senior leadership has changed drastically as well as the shift of the business itself. I feel I am not a fit anymore and want to entertain new opportunities.

I've been out of the job search game for so long I don't know where to start. I'm afraid I will need to take a few steps back if I want to change industries and worry it's my only choice as my role is quasi niche. There are no
openings for it in my current industry.

Any advice on a first year trying to transition from family law to in-house? I always thought family law was my path, and used to enjoy it, but it’s not the direction I want to head in anymore. I don’t think I even want to continue with any litigation work. I’m having a hard time finding firms that are hiring entry level associate positions that don’t require at least 3+ years experience in-house. Should I start at a business law firm to get experience working with corporations first?

Anyone heard anything or have some advice about someone breaking into tech sales with no degree? I have a family member that is really struggling to get by working retail and I’m trying to help him pivot into a career he is interested that I think will get him to a live-able wage if he’s patient. Any advice or point into potential companies would be greatly appreciated!

Is it wrong that I’m just not into PE/VC? It seems to be the most desirable exit for most people that I work with. The work seems like it’s not a good fit for me but it feels crazy to pass up trying to get that amount of money when there really isn’t a realistic alternative to that amount of wealth (and I do want that amount of wealth).

Is it too late/inadvisable to go to law school to specifically aim for privacy work?

Do you all see a compelling future in your tax career? I’ll go first, I don’t see a compelling future working for a large PA firm in the long run because you have to work more as you move up. However, I do see a compelling future by using my knowledge and skills to open my own firm/business and work less hours as long as I make enough money which is $75k, or if I do work long hours, it’s because I want to.
