You're definitely being led on and they're going to keep doing it until you leave or give up and don't bring it up anymore. Dust off the old resume and start looking. If you want to move up, you're gonna have to walk away.
Advice: get another (better) offer and tell them you’ll have to leave unless they match. The economy isn’t looking so great so if worst comes to worst, I wouldn’t leave unless I have a job lined up.
This 👆 i was going to suggest the same. Get another offer and see if they can match or beat. As great as any company might be, they need a little push to actually implement action
You are being led on. Even if they “want” to do it they clearly cannot. Get a competing offer and force the issue. Just be prepared for walk.
When you give your notice they will magically find the money and offer the title bump. But know it will be the last raise you will receive for years there.
This happened to me.. I got it but it took 2 years from the time I was first told I deserved it. Keep asking every 3-6 months. And in writing.
Rising Star
Is it here ^^
Should’ve left 6 months ago - get out asap
They’ll use the economy and any business projections or tightening SOWs, etc., as the rationale to keep pushing it out. Decide if you want to stick it out, while passively or actively putting feelers out for new opportunities? Or if your position and standing is secure, then maybe sit tight until forecasts become clearer. I’ve heard a couple horror stories of people getting laid off 6 weeks to a few months after starting because clients suddenly pulled back SOWs or full accounts were unexpectedly lost.
Find a shop that values you.
Are you in a network agency? Is the promo title or title & pay or do you know?
You’re being led on. Find another role and send in that resignation. Then when you get the call from management state why. It’ll get sorted quickly. Do not rescind that resignation till it’s done.
If they want to keep you, they will do it instantly. If they don’t, then the writing is clear on the wall.
While the perks, boss and everything might seem brilliant, there are other jobs out there too; especially if you’re good at what you do.
Don’t get hung up because of sentiment. Try and look at things from a neutral perspective. If you were counselling a friend, what would you tell them?
If you’re still stuck, reach out. I’m happy to help :)
