Jobseekers - what are the most common reasons you're failing interviews?

Based in the BC Canada and the market seems very competitive.

I've gotten to a few final stages but failed for a few reasons, one of the most common being my average deal size is too low.

Also recently messed up a disco/demo roleplay... didn't quantify the pain well beyond surface level. Kicking myself as literally reading a discovery book at the moment 🤣

Persistent conducts interviews just for timepass. After clearing all rounds they don't offer. Aspiring candidate dont attend interviews.

Anybody get so fed up at work one day that you start applying for other jobs on your work computer

Been in the strat game for over a decade; I’ve realized that a strong department with clear process that is built on end to end problem solving (with time to think) is when I’m happiest vs this award show / case study grind. What are some agencies you all work or have worked at, that value strategy as a department and not a creative case study farm? Looking to figure out what’s next.

My salary just got frozen @ 55.5k (SALT Tax, 1 year of experience). Should I start interviewing for other jobs? Worth it to stay 1 more year and “maybe” make senior? (PwC is 3 yrs to senior standard, 2 yr is early)

I have a Master’s in Accounting, and have 1 more CPA test then I’ll be done. Not sure if I have a strong enough resume to receive decent exit opportunities as a first year associate. I’m about to have busy season again and work 60,70,80,90 hour weeks at my low salary. Please advise!!

Need genuine advise. Got a call from Oasis Resource management pvt ltd. They said that they can help in conducting interviews in canada or UK. Total 5 interviews. They will charge 72k for this and 2k for profile investigation. They claim that under work permit, accomodation, travel cost, meal will be borne by employer for whole work visa tenure along with salary as per profile and market standard.
Are they legit ?
Should i proceed with them ?
Any chance of them being fraud ?

Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. Almost a week with On-site interview and it’s been a radio silence from my recruiter. Should I reach back to them or is it normal? Not at all impatient, just trying to know what’s the norm.

HR is scheduling the interviews without checking time with me. One interview was scheduled and then it was rescheduled to a different time at last minute. I wasn't available at that time so I mailed the HR for a different slot. They again scheduled it for a later date without checking the time with me.

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

Submitted documents with capgemini for business data analyst, data strategy delivery group( capgemini invest) ,8.1 YOE. Already have an offer of 24 ctc from wipro. Before the interview i told my expectation as 30CTC. Will recruiter now lowball me? And how much would be variable pay %??

I have given interview for salesforce dev position in IQVIA and all the three rounds were completed on 10Feb after that I didn't got any communication from recruiter , how many days it usually takes and I am in notice period and it is going to next month..

Will I get an offer from them before the end of next month?

Iqvia was famous to give single digit (4-5%) increment. Is it still the same case? Or things have improved to 12-14%? Based on performance and other factors for sure.

Why is it so difficult to make the next career move within your OWN company. I have over 7 years of experience across multiple departments and yet an external company is more willing to give an interview to select roles than your own home company for the same role internally!!

Where is the loyalty in that !!??

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

I have many options to consider but two options below are what I’m thinking of right now.

Job A: Project Engineer. 135K/yr base. 10% signing bonus.

I’ve been in tech sales for 20+ years. Have an opportunity to take a position at a tech company in Sales Enablement. Anyone have some insight into this type of role? Is it interesting, challenging, collaborative?
Thinking about coaching others in sales could be fun for me at this stage.
Would love some input as this is a new field unfamiliar with.

My wife is in sales at Mercedes and she has been averaging $200k a year and growing YoY. She loves her job, however she works long days and barely gets time off. We plan on having kids within the next year or two, and it’s highly u likely that she’ll be able to keep her current gig. We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?
