Looking for perspective. I extended an end of year award($100 usd) to all members of my team. I added a personalized and heartfelt thank you to each of them for their individual efforts and accomplishments over the year. I received a thank you from only one member of my team and it’s been a month since the award was sent. All members of my team are under 35 and majority are barely 30. How do I take their seemingly lack of appreciation? Should I feel insulted?

Weird, I would at least say a simple thank you, and I’m 31. Younger generations I think have a harder time saying thank you.

like

I agree with the others. That seems off.

The lack of appreciation can definitely take a toll on you, especially after dedicating time to personalize the reward. First of all, don't take it personally!
There might be other factors in play that explain the lack of response. For example, the team members haven't been able to get the pay raises they have been asking for years, so while this reward is nice to have, it's nowhere near meeting their expectations and, therefore, they do not appreciate it enough nor feel the need to say thank you.
I have no context for your team, neither I'm saying the above example is what's happening for you, but just a generic example of why other frustrations/situations might make the team not appreciate the reward.

The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

Does anyone else just not even want to be a people manager anymore?! The amount of work this is taking, I’m just so over it. I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

We interviewed a great candidate, extended a verbal offer and she accepted. We sent the written offer a few days ago but she hasn’t opened it or accepted (it’s expiring tomorrow). Have you ever had to follow up? How did you handle it? My company is small with no HR, so I have to handle the hiring myself.
