That’s ok, as long as she is comfortable being herself at home. Maybe encourage her to draw or draw with her so that she can find avenues to express herself. And when she is a little older, you can enroll her in team sports or any group activities so she can interact with kids in a fun setting.

In my experience with my children this seems pretty normal. My boy started life being super shy but starting at about 5-6 he didn’t know a stranger. My girl is very outgoing except for a phase from about 3.5-4.5 years old where she became shy and seemed to lose her usual abundance of confidence. Nothing happened to her, it just seemed like she became more aware of the world and her place in it. We didn’t do anything different and just loved on her like normal while she figured herself out. She seems to have worked out some things and is mostly back to her confident little outgoing self.
Is she currently involved in any activities (dance, gymnastics, soccer, etc) that causes you to notice this?
Think about why this happened. Check if any bullies at school, did her environment change etc.

You’re good. She’s four, will go through many more phases of this.
