New year res is to be involved/learn about investing. Starting point is to find somewhere to park my efund/ savings for house somewhere short term....CD? Mutual Fund? Something else? Working with ~22k

CD could be an option but the money is locked up for the period. Other options is to put it in a high yield savings account like Marcus - but the yield there is only around 1.7% after all the Fed rate cuts

like

CD rates have been absolutely terrible even for longer term, high minimum options. I’d recommend a “HYSA” (I use quotes since, to your point, they’re only paying out about 1.5-1.8% these days) over a CD just for purposes of flexibility since the rates are likely to be nearly identical.

Nothing offers higher return (without any risk) than new account bonus. Go to nerdwallet and find out which banks and brokerage.
Some hidden ones such as Charles Schwab give you $200 bonus for parking the money for ~30days. So effectively the interest rate is like 10%.
Well Fargo has good bonus too.
Most of my bank interest in 2019 has been earned this way. It involves some work and thinking but not too bad if you get used to it.
Just be aware of the ones try to lock your money up for more than 3 months.

like

Yeah. I looked at nerd wallet and they had one for 750. You had to have not opened an acct in three years and received an award. But you won’t get the full 750 due to fees associated to the act in actuality

Not willing to risk it in stocks so I’m aware my returns will be lower. But anything is better than just sitting in the bank. Just not sure if a CD is better or worse than a MM acct with fees and variability

VTI and other ETFs. They are traded and you can sell them anytime.

Ideally, choose two ETFs. One for the States, One for the world.

Highly Technical Market Sell-Off - Though, it has picked up over lunch and I suspect that short term turn is in near. Old floortrader told me once, never trust a market that is making new session highs or lows during lunch. That's not normal. This might not be a normal day; but we do need to rebound to get another opportunity into the short trend. So, count on it. The last draw is more suspect as it hasn't been proven to exist yet. So, we will see how we look when we trade 9855.75 on NQ.

Hey all! I’m 30 years old. About to close on a house with a 5.75% fixed 30 yr mortgage. If you were me and your goal was to maximize your net worth by retirement, would you put a few thousand dollars extra into paying down the house faster or invest that extra money in the market? The 5.75% doesn’t feel that low but also not crazy high so I’m torn. Thoughts? 🙏

Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.
