I don't think it's ever okay to be ageist or any kind of "ist". To get older generations interested in those roles, it takes education. Teaching them how to navigate TikTok so that they can become more comfortable with it.
Nothing stops you from becoming a granfluencer. I’m sure they’ll be happy to hire you for your skills.
I've seen some older people on Tik Tok, but you have to have the same characteristics as them. The younger generation tends to gravitate towards "cooler" grandpas and grandmas. I don't know if there's an agist problem, or if it's about fitting in with the trends.
Maybe it's just one of those "everything isn't for everybody" things. Tik Tok advertising is important but so is traditional marketing which is what the older generation is better at. We need both of them
Some roles in tech are just going to have younger people in them. I don't think it's ageist - it's just around opportunity.
Younger people are more likely to have just completed their schooling, where they likely had the opportunity to learn the latest tech. Older people can also learn the latest tech, but I'd say it's less common for people with established careers to focus on self development (i.e., taking time to learn new things)
Just because someone is over a certain age does not mean that they are not capable of learning something new. Why not give them the chance to prove themselves?? Tt's definitely not something we should always default to, that's just ageism. never right in any realm.
