Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.

Later this year. Depending on the agency and clearance level of the position, the fed hiring timeline is anywhere from 3 months on the very fast end to 2+ years on the long end, with ~6 months being the typical time to hire for a given position.
Even as a vet, you can expect your fed job search to typically take over a year and dozens of applications.
I served as a reference for someone this week- the job announcement closed mid to late December. Three months from application closing to interview. I think this is normal although others should chime in. Even with an active TS, the hiring agency doesn’t just bring you on board - you are looking at weeks maybe months to sort out that paperwork after the job offer. Reserves shouldn’t be a problem - I’ve worked with many reservists in my career and that tends to run smoothly. Good luck.
