Question about 1031 exchange - I had a rental property in another state that was under my personal name. I sold that property 2 years ago under a 1031 exchange and bought a like kind rental property in my home state. The new property is also a rental property and it's still under my personal name. Now that it's been 2 years since the 1031 was executed, I want to transfer the title of the new property to my LLC for liability protection. Will the IRS consider this title transfer a taxable event?

But an umbrella policy instead and you have the same protection without triggering taxable events

I know this is a very specific question related to 1031, but I haven't been able to find any guidance from the IRS where they state the amount of time one must wait before transferring the title to avoid triggering a taxable event. So I would appreciate any knowledge/ideas. TIA!!

Don’t know the answer but probably turns on whether transfer to llc is a 1001 event.

DM me. I can help

Definitely contact a tax attorney for this specific question.

What are some of the best books you’ve read about people and investing? Such as dealing with people (business psychology almost) and then investing (real estate more specifically)!

I am looking for books that give practical advice, not just big picture theory and motivation.

Tax help please:
Turbo tax is telling me I’m about to get hit with a $3k+ tax bill. I got married in 2019 (my income is 130k, hers is 60k) but I didn’t have extra pay withheld on my W4 in 2020. Last year it wasn’t an issue, so what could have changed? We bought a house in 2020, so I would have expected to have a bigger credit from that, not a larger bill? Any help would be great here.
