Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Use Glassdoor to see what the role you want pays and never switch especially during times like now for raises under 30%. If you’re a finance analyst shoot for a senior financial analyst role with at least a 30% bump. Also do your best after you get the offer to secure a signing bonus.
I’m not in Tampa, but generally a senior associate role (non-tech and non-NYC) has a range of 75k to 105k roughly.
DM me if you would like a referral. I’d be happy to help if I can.
Might depend on how badly they want you. If other candidates who aren't from a competing firm will accept less and offer the same or similar background and experience, it can be tough to negotiate more. That being said, do your research and worry less about the raise in pay and more about your value to them.
