Price waterhouse & co llp Hi all,
I have 4 years of experience in SAP Data migration, working in Infosys. I am looking for referrals in Big4. Can you please help to check if there are any openings in EY, Deloitte, KPMG.

I don't agree. How would you introduce yourself? I am actually proud of what I do and don't see a reason for under playing what I do.
Please everyone stop with the doctor for companies line. Everyone is laughing at you. Seriously if you're at my party and someone asks what you do and you take any longer than 15 seconds to explain it OR you compare yourself to something virtuous like a doctor, you should go home and do some thinking.
I get really uncomfortable when it comes up in a social setting because I still haven't figured out a way to explain it that I like
Just take my word for it, it sounds arrogant and douchey. Never, ever compare yourself to a doctor or anyone whose field exist to help people.
If I'm around people who are more blue collar or working class, I'll say I'm a government contractor just because it's (usually) technically true and people at think they know what it is. We really don't do what most govt contractors do, so if I'm around people who 1) care or 2) know the business, I'll say I'm in consulting. If they ask "what do you consult on," I say it's called management consulting. If they ask again, i say companies and govts hire us to come on and help them manoeuvre complex management situations and decisions like M&A's, HC policy, org redesigns and whatnot. That's been enough to cover the subject in a cocktail party setting. Nothing too pretentious or detailed.
I just say that I work with IT.
I say I work at large employers and help executives fix business problems
I tell ppl that I'm a gov. contractor
KPMG- Golf
Say consulting is for people who couldn't make it in finance and didn't want to go to law school.
D3 - why not to just say you get paid to run errands?:)
@D1, if someone were to just tell me they work at Deloitte, I would think they worked in Audit or Tax. If I said I just work for Accenture, initial thought is probably IT
I usually just introduce myself as Evan.
I spend most my time convincing people I'm not an accountant.
Why?
P6 that's so true, people remember us for that lol
I like to say glorified staffer/I bend over and open my hole wide open for clients and managers
@D1 -- one of the things I love the most about BCG is the quality of the people. Not just in terms of skills, almost everyone I've ever met at BCG is a cool person. In my 6 years, out of more than a thousand I've met maybe 5 BCGers I've wanted to punch. He was one of the 5.
Literally you guys nooooobody cares it's a social thing and nobody wants to hear your elevator pitch. Make some shit up and move along.
"I help the rich get richer"
I usually just say "consultant," and if there's a follow-up..."I help clients find solutions for different problems." No need to glorify consulting. 🤷🏻♀️
