Should I be ashamed for not having moved out yet at 25 years old?

AD3, where were your parents though? I couldn’t move back because it’s all small market agencies
I’m 30 and moving back home. While it’s a separate house — grandparents old house — I’m on the same property with my family. It’s easier, cheaper, and smarter than signing onto a lease or buying a home for me at this point. Plus it will give you greater flexibility should something drastic change in your professional or personal life. If you can work remotely, hedge your bets and...
IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE, READ THIS:
Try to enjoy your time with your parents. They will be gone before you know it. So do some of your favorite shared activities together, don’t sweat when they treat you like their child — you are, and smile. Your time spent there can be a huge blessing — if you let it.
31 with kids and a wife here. Moved in with my parents this month.
We rented out our house but as Corona flared up again the last month or so we decided not to proceed with our next hosting option until things settle. We also didn't want to reneg on our tenants.
So, we're going to enjoy the Grandma/ Grandpa time and I'll try not to get too annoyed by the little things. Also, my wife is a saint.
No. It’s a positive step. You’ll look back and appreciate the time you spent with them.
During the recession at 27, my husband and i moved in with my parents. We saved enough to pay off our student loans and put down a generous down payment. It was absolutely worthwhile. A snip in our lives. And nothing to be embarrassed about. I'd be much more embarrassed to live beyond my means.
From a parent here, I think its great for those that have the option. Just don't treat it like a hotel. Clean, do your own laundry, contribute to groceries, cook once in awhile, socialize. Otherwise you just become bad house guests.
I used to feel this way too in my mid 20s but honestly I saved so much money that I'm in a great spot to buy a house now. And that was pre-covid time. I have a great relationship with my parents so that helped.
Nowadays I think it's def socially acceptable to go back and spend time with your parents/family esp if there is a lot of space where they live
No worries. Just consider yourself to have your own pad across the hall from your parents.
Omg don’t feel bad at all. I’m looking for housing in NYC right now and that’s giving me anxiety. Wish I could go stay with my parents. Go have some great family bonding time with them. Now is the only time you’ll truly be able to spend time with them. Once things go back to normal, we’ll get distracted with everything else once again!
Don’t feel ashamed, when your older and look back you will not regret it
Pay off your loans (if you have them) and save money
Better than being alone in these unsure times or living in some cramped apartment with 3 dudes you hardly know.
As long as you’ve lived on your own with some experience of taking care of yourself fully, I don’t see anything wrong with moving back temporarily in these times
I’m 30 and temporarily moved back with my folks
Ask your parents if they want you to move back home or would rather have you be on your own
I would if I could, even just to spend more time with them. But my parents don’t live in the US and I can’t leave the country

I’m 34 and moved back in with my parents temporarily during corona. It’s been 2 months and I already miss my independence. My parents are great but I have been butting heads with my brother lately. I might go back to my apartment

Update: I went back to my apartment for my own mental health. It’s only been a week but I already feel a ton better. I’ll just go back and forth on the weekends to see them but I’m much better off living alone.
I’m 27F and my lease in Brooklyn is up in 2 months. Considering the same! Sad about leaving my life and friends but as someone who is currently unemployed I am feeling too much anxiety about committing to a year with so many things still unknown about corona.
Didn’t really see this mentioned, but many of my friends and myself are actually staying away from their folks. Their risk of corona complications is much higher for them, so it just adds to the anxiety of potentially seeing your friends. Unless of course you’re in the camp of never seeing anyone outside of your household for another 2 years, which I’m realizing some people are. Also definitely confused about how dating would work.
Love my folks and even started watching TV with them on Zoom since the virus, but wouldn’t move back in personally.
Of course not. With corona, you’re not missing out on much anyways.
Do not be ashamed. These are unprecedented times and need to safeguard your money.
In so many countries, generations live together and support each other. I wish we didn’t have to feel ashamed about that - I would love to coexist with my family again!

No. I’m 30 and I’ve been living with parents.
