Not at all
Nah. It's better to frame your departure as having found an offer you couldn't refuse anyway. Keeps those bridges intact. And most managers don't want to hear their people whining about how they're unhappy without being presented with solutions.
Yall rock. Thanks everyone! My whole thing was what if they hit me with “Well you blindsided us. We could have fixed this.” But I just dont think it’s a “fix” situation. More of a misalignment of work
If you feel like it’s fixable def talk to them but it sounds like you know you want out. Just give them a reasonable notice when something comes thru
I completely agree with B1. You haven’t found anything yet, why shake your relationship and role? What if they replace you before you’re ready to leave?
You’re too naive OP. The hiring manager will replace you in a day. Don’t give them any indication. Besides, your job search could take longer than you think
Thanks again. I agree with everything that’s been said - especially EY1. Gotta get out of my own head
TC1, sorry to hear...what happened after?
OP, I’d be careful of interviewing at clients but otherwise keep mum.
You don’t count in grand scheme of things yet so no one will really care...
Yeah, very bad idea. I interviewed at a different client that my firm has a large presence at. It was immediately communicated back along with 180 on offer and a lot of nastiness including getting rolled off from current project along with comment about how they need people who will be there. Now kind of in a career purgatory / state of indentured servitude.
OP, even if you are best friends with both your Manager or Career Coach, you don't give them any indication that you're looking for an exit because what could happen is that you could be managed out because at the end of the day, the project comes first. I would talk to them and ask them for advice on how to improve your current engagement. Never tell anyone that you're looking to leave until you have a job offer. Best of luck to you.
